Where is Umbria?

Umbria is an Italian region located in Central Italy. It is also called “the green heart of Italy” because it offers unspoiled and wild nature, hilly areas and forests, natural parks, waterfalls and lakes. The three main cities are Perugia, home of one the most ancient universities and historical buildings, Gubbio, which is located on the lower side of Mount Ingino and it is an enchanting medieval town, and Assisi, home of St. Francis, the patron of Italy, and where you can see the frescoes by the late-medieval artists Cimabue and Giotto. The natural heritage is amazing: Trasimeno Lake and Isola maggiore, Le Marmore waterfalls, which are considered some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Europe, Monte Cucco natural park with its caves, just to mention some.
